Recognizing exceptional contributions to scholarly dialogue, research development, and the intellectual community of FMARC.
The FMARC Outstanding Discussant Recognition honors scholars who make exceptional contributions to the discussion and development of research presented at the conference. Outstanding discussants go beyond summarizing a paper: they provide insightful and constructive feedback, engage critically with the paper’s assumptions, methodology, and identification, and highlight its broader contribution to the literature. Recipients are evaluated across multiple dimensions, including analytical insight, originality, contextualization, quality of feedback, clarity, and professionalism. The selection process combines Session Chair evaluations, Presenters’ feedback, and ranked nominations from conference participants. The recognition is awarded holistically to scholars who demonstrate sustained excellence and meaningful intellectual impact, contributing not only to the improvement of individual research projects but also to the broader scholarly dialogue and collegial spirit of FMARC.
